Do you long for Jesus? Do you experience a real ache for Him? Especially now more than ever our longing for Jesus is more prominent. Many are deprived of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. This separation brings with it a real spritual pain and suffering.
Yesterday I reflected with you upon this difficulty and the challenge it is to remain joyful without the opportunity for Eucharistic Communion. As with anything that we are missing, the most helpful response at the time is not to focus on what we cannot have, but what we can. Due to restrictions beyond our control we cannot have sacramental communion with Jesus and we cannot enter our church for prayer before Jesus in the tabernacle. We can open our hearts to the presence of God, open our bible to reflect more intentionally on His word, and make a sincere gift of ourselves to Jesus in an act of spiritual communion.
I leave you with an article from "Word on Fire" regarding spiritual communion. Remember this restriction from the sacraments is only temporary, and sacramental confession is still available by appointment. Please remember Jesus is with us always even to the end of the world. May you receive the grace to encounter the presence of Jesus powerfully through a sincere act of spiritual communion, and I pray it brings you peace and increases your hope. I am confident that we will soon be together again in communal worship. (Click here for article)
